STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming will qualify you to teach non- swimmers, beginners and improvers.
This Ofqual regulated qualification is the first step in your swimming teaching career and on successful completion of the course you will be able to teach your very own class of 12 participants independently. This course can lead straight to paid employment teaching adults or children.
NEW since 2023 STA have revamped and redesigned the STA Level 2 Award meaning its bigger, better and gives you more scope to teach at swim schools of all sizes and now carries the endorsement to CIMSPA Professional Standards. As a result this course is now beefier in content and teaching practical.
The qualification also includes gaining your STA Safeguarding CPD.
STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming March 2025
Theory online 12th, 14th, 17th, 19th, 21st, 24th, 26th, 28th and 31st March and 7pm - 9:30pm
Practical at St Lawrence School, Trinity Rd, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks BN6 9UY, 5th and 6th April
7th April - log onto our Cirrus system to take your theory exam from the comfort of your own home. Your exam is online using our CIRRUS system anytime. Log on for 45 minutes at a time to suit you. Please contact us if this is inconvenient.

Assessment on this qualification includes the following:

Meeting the contact hours by attending all the dates and times

Completion of a multi choice theory exam

Completion of practical teaching a range of lessons to different ability levels including a final 30 minute external assessment.

Work product completion in the form of a portfolio made up of the following:
-4 lesson plans
- 3 schemes of work
-4 evaluations
- Risk assessment
- The STA Safeguarding CPD is assessed through 16 level 2 assessment questions answering to command verbs.
To access this course you will need the following:

A computer, laptop, tablet or phone, and gmail account to access the google classroom where all pre course paperwork and comms will take place.

A computer, laptop, tablet or phone for completing work products via pdf or word. This will be writing and editing documents.

Access to the practical face to face bringing swim costume, shorts and t-shirt to wear in the pool plus appropriate teaching wear for poolside.

Pen, paper, notepad as needed.

A blue or black pen for taking notes on the day and your MCQ. A paperback manual will be provided on the day.
